{"id":71856,"date":"2026-04-15T09:12:50","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T02:12:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/goldman-sachs-files-to-launch-bitcoin-income-etf-tied-to-options\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T09:12:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T02:12:50","slug":"goldman-sachs-files-to-launch-bitcoin-income-etf-tied-to-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/zh\/goldman-sachs-files-to-launch-bitcoin-income-etf-tied-to-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Goldman Sachs Files to Launch Bitcoin Income ETF Tied to Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<h4 color=\"#333\">In brief<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Goldman Sachs filed an application for an ETF that generates income by selling options tied to those that track the digital asset\u2019s spot price<\/li>\n<li>Under normal circumstances, the fund would allocate 80% of its net assets to investments that provide Bitcoin exposure, including spot ETFs.<\/li>\n<li>In January, BlackRock filed for a similar ETF that uses an options strategy to generate premium income for investors beyond spot price gains.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Goldman Sachs filed an application for an exchange-traded fund on Tuesday that seeks to generate income for investors by selling options tied to Bitcoin\u2019s price, underscoring the Wall Street giant\u2019s incremental approach toward the digital assets space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Goldman Sachs Bitcoin Premium ETF would allocate at least 80% of its assets to investments that provide exposure to <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/what-is-bitcoin-four-minute-instant-guide-explainer\" target=\"_blank\">Bitcoin<\/a>, including ETFs that track the digital asset\u2019s spot price as well as derivatives tied to those products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To generate income for investors, the fund would sell options tied to Bitcoin ETFs, generating returns from the premium that investors pay to gain leveraged exposure to Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With Goldman Sachs managing $3.65 trillion in assets (AUM), the filing represents a new entry into \u201cthe Bitcoin ETF game,\u201d according to Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas, who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/2044067845860946244?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>expressed<\/span><\/a><span> a sense of shock on X at the investment bank\u2019s latest filing.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Interesting side note: this is a &#8217;40 Act filing so it has to use a Cayman Subsidiary to get around regulatory limitations re holding commodities. BlackRock meanwhile has a &#8217;33 Act product that is similar. That stands in contrast with a similar ETF that BlackRock has filed for, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGoldman may sense [an opportunity] to leap frog them,\u201d Balchunas added, suggesting that the ETF could debut first due to its regulatory structure. \u201cAnyway, I can&#8217;t say I saw this coming.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In January, BlackRock filed an SEC registration for an iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF that generates income through call options. The fund, if approved by the SEC, would compete with other Bitcoin covered-call ETFs like NEOS\u2019 BTCI, which has $1 billion in AUM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Because BlackRock\u2019s Bitcoin premium income ETF is actively managed, the product is set to have a higher expense ratio than its flagship offering tracking Bitcoin\u2019s spot price.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since BlackRock\u2019s spot Bitcoin ETF debuted in 2024, the product has generated $63.8 billion worth of net inflows, according to crypto data provider <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinglass.com\/etf\/bitcoin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>CoinGlass<\/span><\/a><span>.
