TOKYO — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s presence in Phoenix was palatable during a recent visit. The sprawling desert capital of Arizona was brimming with energy and boasted an area known as “Little Taipei” to cater to TSMC engineers. Direct flights between Phoenix and Taipei are scheduled to begin next year.
The buzz follows the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer’s launch in April of a second chipmaking fab in the city and announced investments for additional plants.
