YANGON — Myanmar’s military is pressing ahead with a plan to hold a general election in the next six months, despite opposition from its ASEAN neighbors and a likely outcome that analysts say will not end the civil war and ethnic divisions ravaging the country.
No date has been announced, but voting will be held sometime in December or January, regime leader Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing confirmed last week.
