WASHINGTON — Marco Rubio will make his first trip to Asia as U.S. secretary of state next week, visiting Japan, South Korea and Malaysia, Nikkei Asia has learned.
America’s top diplomat, who doubles as President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, is expected to begin his official meetings in Tokyo on Monday. He will then head to Seoul to meet with new South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s government before flying to Kuala Lumpur to attend a U.S.-ASEAN meeting on July 10 and an East Asia Summit foreign ministers meeting on July 11.
