{"id":60679,"date":"2026-01-28T10:05:57","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T03:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/morgan-stanley-appoints-new-head-of-digital-asset-strategy\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T10:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T03:05:57","slug":"morgan-stanley-appoints-new-head-of-digital-asset-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/vi\/morgan-stanley-appoints-new-head-of-digital-asset-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan Stanley appoints new head of digital asset strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-testid=\"html-renderer-container\">\n<p>Morgan Stanley has tapped veteran executive Amy Oldenburg to lead the investment bank\u2019s new crypto unit, just weeks after announcing plans to launch three crypto exchange-traded funds and a crypto wallet.<\/p>\n<p>Oldenburg will transition to head of digital asset strategy after working in Morgan Stanley\u2019s emerging markets equity team since 2001, Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/videos\/2026-01-27\/morgan-stanley-appoints-head-of-digital-asset-strategy-video\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Oldenburg has been leading the emerging markets team since November 2021, where she was tasked with driving the division\u2019s digital asset strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Job listings on LinkedIn show the $2 trillion investment bank is also looking to expand its crypto team, listing positions for digital assets strategy director, digital assets strategist and digital assets product lead.<\/p>\n<figure>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2026-01\/019c01fd-ddbf-7d13-bbb8-c6a3cfe2abb3.jpg\" title><figcaption><em>Morgan Stanley digital asset job postings. Source: LinkedIn<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Morgan Stanley <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/morgan-stanley-files-bitcoin-solana-etf\">filed to launch<\/a> spot Bitcoin (<a href=\"http:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\">BTC<\/a>) and Solana (<a href=\"http:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/solana-price-index\">SOL<\/a>) exchange-traded funds in the first week of 2025 \u2014 its first major move in the crypto space after largely sitting out the first wave of institutional adoption over the past two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Later that week, <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/morgan-stanley-files-staking-eth-etf-third-crypto-fund\">Morgan Stanley filed<\/a> for a staked Ether (<a href=\"http:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/ethereum-price\">ETH<\/a>) ETF that seeks to hold ETH while staking an undisclosed amount to earn staking income.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the funds could bring new inflows to BTC, ETH, and SOL from Morgan Stanley\u2019s 19 million clients served through its wealth management division.<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"18123316\"><\/template><\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">It is also looking to launch a crypto wallet that would support cryptocurrencies and <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/learn\/articles\/how-are-rwas-tokenized-ethereum-vs-solana-comparison\">tokenized real-world assets,<\/a> including <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/sec-clears-dtcc-to-offer-tokenization-service\">stocks, bonds and real estate.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Oldenburg advocates for crypto self-custody<\/h2>\n<p>In past public appearances, Oldenburg has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kLnPtxCy0N0\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">stressed<\/a> the importance of the \u201cNot your keys, not your coins\u201d concept and the need to build out better self-custody infrastructure, particularly for those in emerging markets.
