The setup would enable these networks to more private and permissioned while remaining connected to a public blockchain. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure>    <img decoding=\"async\" firms in the financial services industry have already built private blockchains, including JPMorgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and IBM \u2014 though many of these solutions are still in the testing phase or have only been used in limited ways.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, crypto investment firm Galaxy Digital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.galaxy.com\/insights\/research\/predictions-2026-crypto-bitcoin-defi\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">predicted<\/a> at least one <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/fortune-500-blockchain-projects-us-talent-shortage\">Fortune 500 <\/a>bank, cloud provider, or eCommerce platform would launch a layer 1 blockchain that settles more than $1 billion of real economic activity in 2026 and build a bridge for decentralized finance access.<\/p>\n<p>Qureshi also believes one of the Big Tech companies that dominate online life \u2014 potentially Google, Meta, or Apple \u2014 will launch or acquire a <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/crypto-tips-newcomers-vets-skeptics-2026\">crypto wallet<\/a> in 2026 \u2014 a move that has the potential to onboard billions of users into crypto.<\/p>\n<h2>Public fintech chains won\u2019t threaten Ethereum\u2019s dominance<\/h2>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">However, Qureshi isn\u2019t bullish on new L1 blockchains <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/robinhood-tokenization-nyse-liquidity-shift\">built by fintech firms<\/a> \u2014 arguing that they won\u2019t attract sufficient users or capture enough network activity to challenge crypto-native networks like Ethereum and Solana.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\"><p>\u201cDespite the excitement around the recent crop of fintech chains, their metrics will underwhelm.\u201d Daily active addresses, stablecoin flows, and RWAs\u2014Tempo, Arc, and Robinhood Chain will underdeliver, while Ethereum and Solana will overdeliver.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBest developers will continue to build on neutral infra chains,\u201d Qureshi added.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin to top $150K but lose market share<\/h2>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">When it comes to price forecasts, the Dragonfly executive expects Bitcoin to trade above $150,000 by the end of 2026, but tips that <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/learn\/articles\/how-bitcoins-growth-impacts-altcoins-and-defi\">Bitcoin dominance<\/a> will fall.<\/p>\n<p>Galaxy Digital took a hard pass on making a solid prediction and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.galaxy.com\/insights\/research\/predictions-2026-crypto-bitcoin-defi\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> 2026 would be \u201ctoo chaotic\u201d to even guess, as the price could range anywhere between $50,000 and $250,000 by the end of next year.<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"17907885\"><\/template><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Qureshi expects the $312 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/stablecoins-300-billion-market-cap-47-growth-ytd\">stablecoin market<\/a> to grow by 60% in 2026, with the current market leader Tether (USDT) seeing its
