{"id":55998,"date":"2025-11-25T09:36:59","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T02:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/bitcoin-giant-strategy-skips-bitcoin-buy-with-stock-down-67-from-peak\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T09:36:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T02:36:59","slug":"bitcoin-giant-strategy-skips-bitcoin-buy-with-stock-down-67-from-peak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/vi\/bitcoin-giant-strategy-skips-bitcoin-buy-with-stock-down-67-from-peak\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin Giant Strategy Skips Bitcoin Buy With Stock Down 67% From Peak"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<h4 color=\"#333\">In brief<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategy didn\u2019t purchase any Bitcoin last week, per TD Cowen.<\/li>\n<li>The Bitcoin-buying firm\u2019s stock price has fallen 38% this year.<\/li>\n<li>Michael Saylor recently defended the company\u2019s prospects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Strategy typically starts the week by highlighting the amount of Bitcoin that recently was added to its stockpile, yet the company was unusually silent on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Bitcoin-buying firm stopped purchasing the asset for the first time in several weeks, as its stock price hovered near a 14-month low, according to TD Cowen Analyst Lance Vitanza.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe found out this morning that Strategy did not issue any securities under any of its ATMs, nor did it purchase any incremental Bitcoin,\u201d Vitanza shared in an email, referring to at-the-money offering programs allowing Strategy to issue preferred and common shares.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Strategy shares rose 5% on Friday to $179, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/MSTR\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Yahoo Finance<\/span><\/a><span>. Over the past month, the company\u2019s stock price has fallen 38%, as Bitcoin\u2019s price has retreated from all-time highs. The company\u2019s shares are now down 67% from last year\u2019s peak of $543.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After falling as low as $82,175 last week, Bitcoin was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/price\/bitcoin\" target=\"_blank\"><span>changing hands<\/span><\/a><span> around $89,000 on Monday afternoon. It changed hands for as high as $126,000 last month. In a Myriad prediction market, 69% of respondents believe that Bitcoin will pump to $100,000 with the remainder expecting BTC&#8217;s next move will be to $69,000. Myriad is a unit of Dastan, the parent company of an editorially independent <i>Decrypt<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Strategy <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/343035\/strategy-buys-no-bitcoin-making-140-million-dividend-payments\" target=\"_blank\"><span>didn\u2019t announce<\/span><\/a><span> a Bitcoin purchase in early October; however, its timing aligned with pauses that occurred around the end of the preceding two fiscal quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a separate report, Vitanza acknowledged the potential that Strategy is dumped from MSCI indices in February, saying the decision \u201cmay be as misguided as it is unfortunate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last week, JPMorgan analysts <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/349464\/bitcoin-giant-strategy-shed-billions-removed-stock-indices-jpmorgan\" target=\"_blank\"><span>warned<\/span><\/a><span> that Strategy outflows could reach $11.6 billion if MSCI removes the company from its indices next year and similar companies follow suit. MSCI has flagged Strategy\u2019s similarities to investment funds, which aren\u2019t eligible for inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Strategy may share some qualities, but it\u2019s \u201cclearly not an investment fund,\u201d Vitzana said, describing the firm as \u201ca public operating company with a $500 million software business and a unique treasury strategy using Bitcoin as productive capital.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Still, Strategy\u2019s removal from MSCI indices would trigger \u201csubstantial selling of MSTR common shares at a time the company is already trading at steeply depressed levels,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cUltimately, active management of indexes meant to be passive may prove nothing more than an unfortunate speed bump on the road,\u201d Vitanza added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Earlier this month, Strategy\u2019s market cap slipped below the value of its Bitcoin holdings, preventing the company from being able to grow the amount of Bitcoin that it owns per share by issuing common stock, as the firm has done historically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This year, as issuing common stock has grown less lucrative, the company has raised billions of dollars through various preferred shares, which offer dividend payments, to buy Bitcoin.
