{"id":55471,"date":"2025-11-24T09:17:38","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/why-this-billionaire-collector-continues-to-buy-nfts-in-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T09:17:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:17:38","slug":"why-this-billionaire-collector-continues-to-buy-nfts-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hbbgroup.net\/vi\/why-this-billionaire-collector-continues-to-buy-nfts-in-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Why This Billionaire Collector Continues to Buy NFTs in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<h4 color=\"#333\">In brief<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Businessman and investor Adam Weitsman remains a major NFT buyer, even with the market down substantially.<\/li>\n<li>He recently purchased a bundle of 229 Meebits, not long after buying 5,000 NFT assets from the Otherside metaverse game.<\/li>\n<li>Weitsman also acquired the CryptoDickbutts and HV-MTL NFT project IP this year, driving renewed development around both.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>The <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/non-fungible-tokens-nfts-explained-guide-learn-blockchain\" target=\"_blank\">NFT<\/a> market has fallen off sharply since the 2021-22 bull run, but at least one billionaire collector is still betting big on the tokenized assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In one of the largest private NFT deals of the year, businessman and collector Adam Weitsman <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MeebitsNFTs\/status\/1985850737696350411\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>recently acquired<\/span><\/a><span> 229 <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/what-are-meebits-metaverse-ready-nfts-from-the-creator-of-cryptopunks\" target=\"_blank\">Meebits NFTs<\/a> in a single over-the-counter transaction, marking the biggest-known purchase from the collection\u2014which was launched by CryptoPunks creator Larva Labs in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>Weitsman continues to double down on digital art and culture, even as markets cool.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019ve always loved Meebits,\u201d Weitsman told <\/span><i><span>Decrypt <\/span><\/i><span>in an interview. \u201cThey\u2019re actually the reason I got into Web3 in the first place. This purchase is my way of showing confidence in the team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He added that timing was part of the message behind the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI try to make moves when there\u2019s negativity,\u201d he said. The Meebits purchase was completed on what he described as \u201cone of the reddest days of the market,\u201d when crypto and NFT prices were sliding across the board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Weitsman also credited Meebits CEO Sergio \u201cSergito\u201d Silva\u2014whose Meebit Company firm <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/306109\/meebits-ethereum-nft-ip-sold-bits-rewards\" target=\"_blank\"><span>acquired the IP<\/span><\/a><span> from <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/what-is-bored-ape-yacht-club-the-celebrity-nft-of-choice\" target=\"_blank\">Bored Ape Yacht Club<\/a> creator Yuga Labs earlier this year\u2014for his conviction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSergito is one of the best guys,\u201d Weitsman said. \u201cI believe in him as a person and as a friend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The private seller was represented by Fountain Digital\u2019s Charles Katz and Noah Davis, while MeebCo CEO Sergito represented Weitsman. The price remains undisclosed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019re honored by Adam\u2019s continued support of Meebits and love having him in the community,\u201d Silva told <\/span><i><span>Decrypt<\/span><\/i><span>. \u201cHis approach to collecting NFTs is a refreshing reminder of what originally inspired a lot of us to enter the space: make friends, build community, and support builders we believe in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unlike many traders in the NFT space, Weitsman isn\u2019t motivated by flipping or profit. He\u2019s never sold an NFT in his life, and says he doesn\u2019t believe in selling and never will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI collect because I love the art, the people, and the history being made,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, this is about legacy, not liquidity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The haul includes several standout Meebits, including #16803, one of just 57 Skeletons ever minted, #367, an Elephant wearing a Skull Tee, and #7063, a Human featuring the ultra-rare Punk Tee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Weitsman\u2019s conviction in the Web3 space runs deep. A major Yuga Labs supporter, he recently expanded his holdings with 5,000 Otherdeed land plots, along with Mega Kodas and Weapon Kodas, signaling strong belief in the future of the Bored Ape-themed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/346105\/bored-ape-metaverse-game-otherside-launching-amazon-nft-drop\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Otherside metaverse game<\/span><\/a><span>. He <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/adamweitsman\/status\/1963735007236669568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">also acquired the HV-MTL NFT project<\/a> from Faraway Games, which had <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/226844\/bored-ape-creator-yuga-labs-offloaded-games\" target=\"_blank\">previously taken it over<\/a> from original creator Yuga Labs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The NFT market boom of a few years back has faded, with fewer eye-popping sales and dramatically less trading volume overall. But collectors still buy, sell, and utilize their assets, building community and products around artwork and avatars alike, regardless of hype.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think the people who are still here\u2014the artists, the collectors, the founders\u2014are the ones keeping the space alive,\u201d Weitsman said. \u201cThis ecosystem was built on creativity and community.
