Intel says the chips will begin shipping later in 2025 from Fab 52 in Chandler, Arizona, with broad availability in January 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It\u2019s a big geopolitical move Intel is attempting to play up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe United States has always been home to Intel\u2019s most advanced R&#038;D, product design, and manufacturing, and we are proud to build on this legacy as we expand our domestic operations and bring new innovations to the market,\u201d Lip-Bu Tan said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The announcement comes as Intel\u2019s foundry division continues to bleed cash. For Q2 2025, Intel\u2019s foundry business posted an operating loss of $3.2 billion on $4.4 billion of revenue, per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpha-sense.com\/earnings\/intc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>summarized figures<\/span><\/a><span> from the company\u2019s earnings coverage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Intel\u2019s previous <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intc.com\/news-events\/press-releases\/detail\/1745\/intel-reports-second-quarter-2025-financial-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>Q2 2025 results<\/span><\/a><span> show the broader restructuring and cost controls related to the turnaround.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last month, the White House announced a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.intel.com\/corporate\/intel-and-trump-administration-reach-historic-agreement\" target=\"_blank\"><span>strategic agreement<\/span><\/a><span> with Intel, in which the government acquired a 9.9% stake in the company by purchasing 433.3 million primary shares, investing a total of $11.1 billion to provide Intel with sufficient cash to invest in new technology and remain operational.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Competition is fierce. Apple\u2019s latest Apple Silicon laptops routinely post strong multithreaded and single-core results versus prior-gen Intel i9s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nanoreview.net\/en\/cpu-compare\/intel-core-i9-13900h-vs-apple-m4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>in public benchmarks<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, AMD is making <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomshardware.com\/pc-components\/cpus\/amds-desktop-pc-market-share-hits-a-new-high-as-server-gains-slow-down-intel-now-only-outsells-amd-2-1-down-from-9-1-a-few-years-ago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>serious inroads<\/span><\/a><span> in desktop CPUs. As of Q2 2025, AMD captured 32.2% of desktop CPU unit share and 39.3% of revenue share, narrowing Intel\u2019s dominance to roughly 2:1 from estimates of around 9:1 in prior years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>AMD is not just competing in PCs; it\u2019s also forming <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/343068\/amd-stock-skyrockets-openai-bet-loosen-nvidia-grip-ai-chip-market\" target=\"_blank\"><span>large AI partnerships<\/span><\/a><span>, including a confirmed multi-year 6 GW GPU supply deal with OpenAI this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Qualcomm\u2019s PC push, meanwhile, centers on efficiency, with early reviews and databases highlighting strong performance-per-watt for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/SD-X-Elite-X1E-84-100-vs-i9-13900H_15108_14717.247596.0.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>Snapdragon X Elite<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On the technology front, Intel&#8217;s 18A process brings RibbonFET (gate-all-around) transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Intel claims up to 15% better performance per watt and 30% higher chip density compared to its Intel 3 node, making the chips a sub-2 nm-class alternative for advanced client and data-center silicon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In other words, these new chips use highly advanced technology and are designed to be efficient in AI tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The company needs Panther Lake to land.
