This week, Michelle Bond, spouse of former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame, will return to court for an evidentiary hearing in her criminal case.<\/p>\n<p>In a Sunday <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.58.0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.58.0.pdf\">filing<\/a> in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), Bond\u2019s legal team requested that a federal judge allow her to testify despite prosecutors\u2019 objections.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors had <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.57.0.pdf\" rel=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.57.0.pdf\" target=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.57.0.pdf\" title=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.57.0.pdf\">argued<\/a> Friday that it was unlikely Bond could offer testimony relevant to Salame\u2019s plea agreement involving allegations of campaign finance fraud.\u00a0He\u2019s currently serving time in prison for charges related to his role in the company\u2019s downfall.<\/p>\n<p>Salame\u2019s plea deal sits at the heart of Bond\u2019s case over alleged campaign finance violations. Prosecutors alleged that Salame ordered $400,000 in funds tied to FTX sent to her campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Bond was charged with conspiracy to cause unlawful campaign contributions, causing and accepting excessive campaign contributions, causing and receiving an unlawful corporate contribution, and causing and receiving a conduit contribution in August 2024.\u00a0She pleaded not guilty to all charges.<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">\u201cThe government has no grounds to pre-emptively bar Ms. Bond from testifying because her testimony is neither redundant nor irrelevant,\u201d said her attorneys. \u201cMs. Bond\u2019s and her husband\u2019s state of mind in entering into the plea agreement are directly relevant to the issues before the Court [&#8230;]\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Law, Cryptocurrency Exchange, Court, Crimes, FTX\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-09\/01997307-52b1-7269-b80d-3839c4d291ce\" title><figcaption><em>Sunday filing by Michelle Bond\u2019s lawyers. Source: <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.58.0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044\/gov.uscourts.nysd.627044.58.0.pdf\"><em>Courtlistener<\/em><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As one of five defendants included in the indictment of former FTX and Alameda Research executives, Salame pleaded guilty to conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions and defraud the Federal Election Commission and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business. <\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">He was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-ryan-salame-report-cumberland-prison\" title=\"null\">where he reported<\/a> in October 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After Salame\u2019s guilty plea, his lawyers attempted to vacate his deal with US prosecutors, claiming that the agreement was contingent on them not pursuing criminal charges against Bond.
