While a negative balance indicates that more ETH tokens are leaving exchanges than are deposited, it is a sign of accumulation and long-term holding behavior.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBillions of dollars in ETH are flowing out of exchanges!\u201d Wedson <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/joao_wedson\/status\/1963832558115774667\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"null\">said<\/a> in an X post on Friday, adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\"><p>\u201cThis historic milestone could mark a major shift in ETH investor behavior!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-09\/019919dc-8174-707f-a1fa-bc0411d800b8\" title><figcaption><em>ETH exchange flux balance. Source: <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/studio.glassnode.com\/charts\/distribution.BalanceExchanges?a=ETH\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/studio.glassnode.com\/charts\/distribution.BalanceExchanges?a=ETH\"><em>Glassnode<\/em><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Reducing supply on exchanges means less ETH can be readily sold, potentially leading to a <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ethereum-staked-supply-hits-record\" title=\"null\">liquidity shortage<\/a> and higher prices in the long term.<\/p>\n<h2>Ether price must reclaim $4,500 to secure recovery<\/h2>\n<p>As <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/eth-rally-toward-dollar4-5k-on-shaky-ground-here-s-why\" title=\"null\">Cointelegraph continues to report<\/a>, a key short-term resistance for ETH price remains $4,500, and the bulls need to flip this into new support to go higher.<\/p>\n<p>Note that this level has capped the price since the <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ether-breaks-below-tom-lee-trendline-is-a-10percent-incoming\" rel target=\"_self\" title=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ether-breaks-below-tom-lee-trendline-is-a-10percent-incoming\">ETH slipped to $4,300<\/a>  on Aug. 29.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c$ETH broke out from the falling wedge, retested it, and now hovers above key support,\u201d <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CryptoJelleNL\/status\/1963890993649926160\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"null\">said<\/a> crypto trader Jelle in a Friday post on X.<\/p>\n<p>The trader pointed out that a decisive close above $4,500 would leave \u201cvery little standing in the way\u201d of a move higher into price discovery.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c$5000 is just the beginning.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-09\/019919dc-93dd-7432-8ab8-86c3b1503379\" title><figcaption><em>ETH\/USD four-hour chart.
