$34m center to develop controlled farming technologies, produce varieties

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey — U.S. premium strawberry-growing startup Oishii will invest over 5 billion yen ($34 million) as part of its plan to open a research and development facility in Japan to create indoor farming systems and produce varieties suited to such systems.

The company aims to have the facility in the prefecture of Tokyo fully operational next year.
