WASHINGTON/ISTANBUL — U.S. President Donald Trump brought together the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to the White House on Friday, kicking off a process to end a 35-year conflict between them and inserting the U.S. into the heart of the South Caucasus — a strategic region for Russia, Iran and China.
