UDAIPUR, India — The early sun bathes Lake Pichola in golden warmth as I sip spiced milk tea from a small clay cup. Around me, the city of Udaipur stirs slowly to life — vendors arrange colorful textiles, artisans open workshop doors, and the aroma of kachori (stuffed savory pastry) and jalebi (syrupy, coiled sweets) wafts through the narrow lanes.
Even after three decades of regular visits, I find myself enchanted by what locals call the “City of Lakes.”
