TOKYO — Canadian retailer Alimentation Couche-Tard said on Thursday that it has withdrawn its bid for Seven & i Holdings, the operator of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, citing a lack of constructive engagement, nearly a year after the proposal first came to light.
Seven & i said in response that it was “disappointed” but “not surprised” by the move, noting in a statement that the decision was taken “unilaterally” by Couche-Tard and arguing that it was based on “numerous mischaracterizations.”
