BANGKOK/MANILA/JAKARTA — Premium housing developments are on the rise in a Thai resort getaway, following a regional trend to counter looming economic slowdowns.

Thai real estate giant Ananda Development has launched an ambitious project to build a sprawling residential community on the resort island of Phuket, targeting wealthy buyers.
