TOKYO — Lithuania will boost military spending to 5.5% of gross domestic product in 2026, Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene said, allocating one of the highest levels in NATO to counter the threat from nearby Russia.
Lithuania raised its defense budget from around 2% of GDP before Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine to 4% this year, with plans for another increase next year.
