        "rendered": "<div>\n<div>\n<h4 color=\"#333\">In brief<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Donald Trump Jr. said the Trump family has not abandoned World Liberty Financial, dispelling online rumors.<\/li>\n<li>Co-founder Zach Witkoff said the firm is close to conditional approval for a national bank charter.<\/li>\n<li>The company also defended its lawsuit against Tron founder Justin Sun amid their escalating feud.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Donald Trump Jr. addressed rumors Thursday that he and his family have quietly exited World Liberty Financial, insisting he and his siblings remain part of the crypto firm as it ramps up a high-profile legal skirmish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think I saw on Twitter at one point that Don and Eric had abandoned the project,\u201d Zach Witkoff, another World Liberty co-founder, said during a Thursday afternoon appearance at Consensus, a Miami crypto conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt was news to me too,\u201d Trump Jr. chimed in, chalking the rumors up to misinformation spread online after World Liberty took a list of company co-founders, including President Donald Trump and his three sons, off the company website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou get enough people who blindly follow what someone\u2019s feeding them, you get bots pushing it\u2026 I don\u2019t think I\u2019d be on this stage here if that was the case,\u201d Trump Jr. continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAs far as I\u2019m aware, Don and Eric are still very much co-founders of the project,\u201d Witkoff added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The co-founders were prompted to respond to the rumors by the panel\u2019s moderator, David Wachsman\u2014an independent crypto PR executive who runs public relations for the Trump family\u2019s crypto firm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During the panel, Wachsman also asked Trump Jr. and Witkoff to address a lawsuit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/366635\/trump-family-world-liberty-lawsuit-justin-sun-shorted-wlfi-crashed-price\" target=\"_blank\"><span>filed<\/span><\/a><span> this week by World Liberty against crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun. Sun, the founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/tron\" target=\"_blank\">Tron<\/a> network and one of World Liberty\u2019s top financial backers, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/365106\/justin-sun-sues-trump-backed-world-liberty-financial-over-frozen-tokens\" target=\"_blank\"><span>sued<\/span><\/a><span> the company last month, alleging rampant misconduct by its leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>World Liberty has now clapped back with a defamation suit, arguing that Sun not only publicly spread falsehoods about the company, but also secretly shorted the company\u2019s native token, WLFI, in an effort to drive down its price.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have filed the lawsuit if we didn\u2019t have the receipts,\u201d Witkoff said, calling the legal action a \u201clast resort.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Witkoff soon after pivoted to World Liberty\u2019s regulatory ambitions. In January, the company <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/353922\/world-liberty-financial-applies-for-occ-trust-bank-charter\" target=\"_blank\"><span>applied<\/span><\/a><span> with a division of President Donald Trump\u2019s Treasury Department for a national trust bank charter, which would allow it to handle key banking functions related to its dollar-pegged stablecoin, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/what-is-world-liberty-financial-the-trump-family-defi-project-explained\" target=\"_blank\"><span>USD1<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to hopefully get our charter,\u201d Witkoff said. \u201cI think we\u2019re in the final stages of receiving conditional approval.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In recent months, top Democrats have seized on World Liberty\u2019s pending bank charter application as proof of President Trump\u2019s alleged \u201ccrypto corruption.\u201d Sen.
