        "rendered": "<div data-testid=\"html-renderer-container\">\n<p>The biggest threat to the Bitcoin network is \u201cambitious opportunists\u201d who want to push through protocol changes, according to Michael Saylor, the co-founder of Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\" title=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\">BTC<\/a>)  treasury company Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Saylor\u2019s comments sparked a debate online. Nic Carter, the founding partner of venture firm Castle Island, has repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nic_carter\/status\/2002044276062982618\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">warned<\/a> that the protocol needs to move to post-quantum standards as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">However, Adam Back, the CEO of digital asset infrastructure company Blockstream, <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/quantum-computing-bitcoin-adam-back-nic-carter-debate\">rebuffed Carter\u2019s claims<\/a>, calling them \u201cuninformed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">\u201cBitcoiners and developers are not in denial about defensively doing the research and development to prepare for future quantum computers.
