        "rendered": "<div data-testid=\"html-renderer-container\">\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">The crypto market will be bleeding into 2026 depsite other major assets gaining; however, there will be a chance for crypto to play catch-up in the new year, according to market intelligence platform Santiment.<\/p>\n<p>In an X post on Tuesday, analysts from Santiment <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/santimentfeed\/status\/2006070421104292116\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> Bitcoin (<a href=\"http:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\">BTC<\/a>) is <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-gold-silver-price-performance-not-relevant-analysts\">trailing behind gold<\/a> and the stock market index S&#038;P 500, which have both made slight recoveries after a crash in November saw bleeding across the board. <\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Since the start of November, gold is up 9%, the S&#038;P 500 is up 1%, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/learn\/articles\/what-is-bitcoin-a-beginners-guide-to-the-worlds-first-cryptocurrency\">Bitcoin is down 20%<\/a>, trading for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/bitcoin\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">around<\/a> $88,000 as of Wednesday.<\/p>\n<figure>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-12\/019b7223-dd53-707f-b1ba-02b7e6295d68.jpg\" title><figcaption><em>Bitcoin is trailing behind gold and the S&#038;P 500, but that could shift in 2026. Source: <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/santimentfeed\/status\/2006070421104292116\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/santimentfeed\/status\/2006070421104292116\"><em>Santiment<\/em><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">\u201cThe correlation between Bitcoin &#038; crypto compared to other major sectors is still lagging behind,\u201d Santiment analysts said, adding that \u201cHeading to 2026, there will remain an opportunity for crypto to play catch-up.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Whales waiting on the sidelines<\/h2>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Large holders scooping up crypto again could be the first sign of a shift back, as whales slowed accumulation in the second half of 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/santimentfeed\/status\/2006058048855392684\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">according<\/a> to Santiment.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe second half of 2025 was dominated by aggressive accumulation by the small wallets, while large wallets essentially stayed flat, rising up to the Oct ATH, then selling.\u201d \u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Generally, large holders and whales are <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/how-to-use-ai-to-spot-whale-wallet-moves-before-the-crowd\">considered market movers<\/a>, and their trades can influence market behavior, liquidity, and investor psychology.<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">\u201cHistorically, the best recipe for a bear pattern to flip to a bullish one is when large wallets accumulate, and retail dumps,\u201d Santiment analysts added.<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"18304599\"><\/template><\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Long-term Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-long-term-holders-halt-selloff-ether-whales-accumula\">holders have also stopped selling<\/a>, pumping the brakes on offloading crypto for the first time six months after trimming <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-long-term-holders-hit-eight-month-lows-bullish-or-bearish\">their positions from 14.8 million<\/a> coins in mid-July to 14.3 million in December.<\/p>\n<h2>Shift back into crypto could already be underway<\/h2>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Garrett Jin, former CEO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/press-releases\/bitforex-completes-over-50-of-user-withdrawals-sets-kyc-deadline-in-november-2025-update\" rel=\"sponsored\">now-defunct crypto exchange<\/a> BitForex, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GarrettBullish\/status\/2005850761276555496?s=20\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">speculated<\/a> that traders have already started to shift out of other sectors and back into crypto.<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Data from the on-chain analytics platform Nansen <a href=\"https:\/\/app.nansen.ai\/macro\/blockchains?chain=bitcoin&#038;tab=overview\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">shows<\/a> that the number of active Bitcoin addresses has risen 5.51% in the last 24 hours, while transactions are down nearly 30%.<\/p>\n<figure>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-12\/019b7223-e4ba-774e-a991-73e2135ee806.png\" title><figcaption><em>The number of active Bitcoin addresses has risen, but transaction volume is down.
