It has been delayed due to the ongoing government shutdown, which is now in its 24th day.<\/p>\n<p>Economists forecast that September <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/latin-america-crypto-stablecoins-financial-access\">inflation<\/a> rose 0.4% monthly and 3.1% annually, so it would be the first time headline CPI would exceed 3% this year, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/united-states\/inflation-cpi\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">according<\/a> to Trading Economics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>CPI print could impact crypto\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The CPI report will be the first major data release since the US government shutdown at the beginning of this month.<\/p>\n<p>Investor Ted Pillows <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TedPillows\/status\/1981432938232426988\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> that if CPI comes in at 3.1% or more, the rate cut odds could go down, but if it comes in at 3% or lower, \u201cit\u2019ll be good for the markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/us-government-shutdown-likely-end-this-week-trump-adviser\"><em><strong>US gov shutdown \u2018likely\u2019 to end this week: Trump adviser<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Analyst \u2018Ash Crypto\u2019 <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Ashcryptoreal\/status\/1981479659432022114\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">concurred<\/a>, stating that higher than 3.1% will be bearish for markets \u201cbecause it&#8217;ll mark the highest CPI print since June 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Around 3.1% will be in line with expectations, but below 3.1% is the \u201cperfect scenario for risk-on assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\"><p>\u201cRate cuts will happen, and also the MoM increase in CPI will be just 0.1% or 1.2% annualized. This will also boost chances of more rate cuts and will cause liquidity to flow into risk-on assets.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe realize that the Fed has said that their focus is now on the employment picture, but whether tomorrow\u2019s CPI data is a lot different than expectations or not could still have an impact on their thinking,\u201d Matt Maley, chief market strategist at Miller Tabak, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/other\/hotter-cpi-unlikely-to-deter-rate-cuts-s-p-500-rally-for-now\/ar-AA1P21dp\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> Bloomberg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\"><p>\u201cSo, it will still have a big impact on the markets if it is indeed out of line with what the consensus is thinking,\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But hotter-than-expected inflation figures will not likely deter the Federal Reserve from cutting rates, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/livecoverage\/inflation-september-cpi-report\/card\/september-inflation-likely-went-in-the-wrong-direction-why-cpi-data-won-t-shake-up-rate-cut-expectations--ZnPYMSlFkQXTgKkohDlm\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">according<\/a> to Barron\u2019s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The central bank is more focused on the weakening labor market, and the probability of a rate cut next Wednesday is 98.3%, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cmegroup.com\/markets\/interest-rates\/cme-fedwatch-tool.html\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">according<\/a> to CME futures prediction markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, the ongoing government shutdown could complicate the economic picture ahead of the Fed\u2019s December meeting, when another rate cut is expected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-10\/019a13fa-8d48-7d23-bce8-0773ccb0b3b1\" title><figcaption><em>US inflation is expected to tick up again.
