        "rendered": "<div>\n<div>\n<h4 color=\"#333\">In brief<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump Jr. described his experience with mainstream media as \u201ca disaster,\u201d likening their exclusion from coverage to being debanked.<\/li>\n<li>He said independent outlets, podcasts, and long-form formats fill gaps left by traditional press.<\/li>\n<li>Observers told <i>Decrypt<\/i> that credibility depends on transparency and accountability, regardless of the outlet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Donald Trump Jr. told a jam-packed conference room at Token 2049 in Singapore how the media\u2019s unfair treatment of his family had spurred them to create alternative forms of channeling attention and engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump and co-founder of World Liberty Financial, said that the crypto project resulted from the First Family\u2019s efforts to foster friendlier coverage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think my overall experience with the media has been, let&#8217;s call it, a disaster,\u201d Trump Jr. said. \u201cWhere we\u2019re starting to get a fair shake is that the media has discredited themselves so often and so much that the media, like finance, is shifting to alternate forms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump Jr. and his family have been increasingly active in the digital asset space through multiple projects that seem to have generated massive gains for them, but also drawn blowback from critics who believe the Trumps have been advancing their own interests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump Jr. called \u201cthe independent journalism route, the podcasts, people who are talking long-form,\u201d as part of a trend where communication can be construed as \u201cnot just delivering a sound bite for whatever corporate powers would have them be doing.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He said these formats would enable \u201creal\u201d conversations, and offered an opportunity for people outside traditional media to fill a \u201cvoid.\u201d including his family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe got into crypto because\u2014out of necessity\u2014<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/317435\/eric-trump-woke-cancel-culture-bitcoin-crypto\" target=\"_blank\"><span>we were debanked<\/span><\/a><span>, so we came up with a solution,\u201d Trump Jr. said, pointing to how, in the same manner as the media, they were deplatformed, shut down, and thrown off \u201cevery platform imaginable.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump Jr. and his brother, Eric Trump, have frequently spoken about facing challenges in the banking industry, with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/317435\/eric-trump-woke-cancel-culture-bitcoin-crypto\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Eric saying earlier this year<\/span><\/a><span> that \u201csome of the biggest banks in the world\u201d canceled their accounts after President Trump\u2019s first term. Eric Trump further blamed \u201cwoke cancel culture\u201d for the trend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump\u2019s comments drew largely favorable reviews from crypto industry observers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In an interview with <\/span><i><span>Decrypt<\/span><\/i><span>, Tory Green, co-founder and chairman of decentralized GPU platform <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/io.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\"><span>io.net<\/span><\/a><span>, highlighted the importance of \u201ctransparency and accountability,\u201d and said that mainstream media often overlooks important details about crypto, for example, which is \u201cwhy independent outlets matter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Alluding to the president\u2019s removal from social media platforms following the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack in 2021, Coin Bureau founder and CEO Nic\u00a0Puckrin told <\/span><i><span>Decrypt<\/span><\/i><span> that \u201cdeplatforming\u201d was wrong.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou should have an opinion. You should be able to share it, right?\u201d Puckrin said. \u201cNo matter what people think about it, you should be able to [opine], so deplatforming is bad,\u201d although he added that Trump Jr.\u2019s story was \u201ca bit of a spin, of course.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Cecilia Hsueh, chief strategy officer at MEXC, said that alternative media often did a better job of covering the crypto industry itself than mainstream outlets that miss the industry\u2019s culture and pace.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cCrypto is very unique,\u201d she said. \u201cThe way we do things, degen culture\u2014it\u2019s fast, it switches rapidly.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She added: \u201cTraditional media has \u201cthis perception [on crypto] that it&#8217;s a speculation first, and then they use that perception to look into what we are doing: all the initiatives, the creative ideas,\u201d although she noted positive changes as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/resources\/what-is-bitcoin-four-minute-instant-guide-explainer\" target=\"_blank\">Bitcoin<\/a> has become a mainstream asset.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Decrypt<\/span><\/i><span> reached out to World Liberty Finance and Donald Trump Jr. for additional comment, but did not immediately receive a response.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>Daily Debrief Newsletter<\/h3>\n<p>Start every day with the top news stories right now, plus original features, a podcast, videos and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>",
