PALO ALTO, California — Rodney Brooks, the co-founder of the company behind the Roomba vacuum robot, is preparing to bring warehouse robots to Japan in a bid to capture demand from companies grappling with a severe labor crunch.
Robust.AI, Brooks’ new company, sees Japan as an opportunity to roll out “Carter,” a lightweight and autonomously driving cart. Carter is able to map out a fulfillment center in real time using artificial intelligence to select best route to help workers.
