TOKYO — Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Sunday said that he will step down to take responsibility for the ruling coalition’s rout in the July 20 upper house election, just 11 months after assuming the post, having struggled to navigate the sluggish economy amid persistently high inflation and sharp tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
