SHANGHAI — The reliability of Chinese power banks has come under scrutiny following product recalls by major brands, with reports of units catching fire on flights prompting stricter regulations of the portable energy storage devices.
Last month, electronics makers Anker Innovations and Shenzhen Romoss Technology recalled a combined 1.2 million power banks in China, warning that the products could overheat and catch fire under extreme conditions.
