TAIPEI — Foxconn and other Taiwanese manufacturers are poised to expand their electric bus businesses into Japan and other markets, buoyed by generous subsidies from Taiwan’s government.
Taiwan has been busy switching out traditional buses with electric vehicles on public routes, especially in urban areas. Out of the more than 10,000 buses operating on routes at the end of last year, 17% were electric, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
