KUALA LUMPUR/JAKARTA — Foreign ministers from ASEAN members are set to convene in Kuala Lumpur this week for a slew of regional meetings, including with their counterparts from the U.S., China and other partner countries.
Washington’s trade policy is expected to be high on the agenda, especially with President Donald Trump announcing new tariffs on several ASEAN states overnight. Other pressing issues expected to be discussed include the civil conflict in Myanmar, China’s maritime expansion in the South China Sea and the Middle East situation.
