PHNOM PENH — Mobile internet services were disrupted across Cambodia on Friday after Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed officials to cut internet and electricity connections with Thailand as border tensions persist between the neighbors over disputed land.
The Cambodian immigration department also ordered “for public security” the closure of the key Daung checkpoint in Battambang province that connects to Chanthaburi province in Thailand. It did not give further details but former Prime Minister Hun Sen applauded the move on Facebook, saying it would affect Thai farmers transporting crops to Vietnam.
